Surprise Casserole

David was sweet enough to make dinner tonight. It was a chicken, rice, and cream of mushroom soup casserole.

Once the timer went off saying it was done cooking in the oven, we served ourselves up and I found a little surprise in the casserole.

He dropped a fork in there while preparing it and didn't notice. Made me giggle.

Rice

Today I looked up how to cook brown rice in the microwave. This website told me to put 4 parts water and 1 part rice, cook for 5 minutes covered, then cook for 20 minutes uncovered. It had great responses saying it worked. I trusted it.

Bad idea.

I only wanted to make a small portion of rice, which might be why mine failed. I did 2 Tbsp rice, 8 Tbsp water. I cooked it for 5 minutes, added some more water, then cooked it for 8 more minutes because I thought 20 sounded like way too much.

I went about doing my business until I smelled some burning.

And burning there was.

I guess it ran out of water and got really hot and my tupperware couldn't handle it.

On the bright side, once it cooled down a little bit I was able to cleanly scrape off the melted plastic.
