Sprinklers are a runners best friend, and when you are on mile 7 and so thirsty and hot and are expecting a certain set of sprinklers to be on and they're not, its just about the saddest you can be.
I know sprinkler water probably isn't potable, but on mile 7 out of 8, you really don't care about the consequences. I've drunk worse on a long run in summer. Specifically I'm talking about when Stefanie and I were training for our marathon 6 years ago. We were going on an 18 mile run in the dead of summer and we were so desperate that we drank some running water out of this gutter that had moss growing on the bottom.
Desperation is real, folks.
**Note: even though I really wanted those sprinklers to be on so I could cool off and re-hydrate, deep down I am glad they were off. I am against watering grass in the middle of the day because it is the most inefficient time to water it since most of the water just evaporates anyways.
