Cream Puffs

We decided to make cream puffs today.

The cream puffs didn’t puff.

At all.

Crunchy puffs.

They are greasy doughy solid crunchy balls. In the oven they didn't rise at all but the butter started oozing out of them, and they are very doughy on the inside. Turns out we missed one step/ingredient of adding water. BUT HONESTLY who doesn't put water in the ingredients list and only puts it in the instructions? Anyone would have made that mistake, right?

In good news, we remade them and they turned out very puffy and perfect.

Plentiful Harvest

The only harvest from our 30+ radish seeds we planted.

Wrong Socks

When your 3 year old has the same color socks as you and you accidentally pack the wrong sock in your gym bag.

I tried to make it work, but I ended up just going barefoot.

Graham Cracker Bath

Turns out that giving a 20 month old a graham cracker in the bath is a bad idea.

She wanted to eat the graham cracker, but because she's so young she kept dipping the cracker in the bath water when she was distracted. Graham crackers dissolve in water really quick. She cried. We got her another. It happened again. We ended up with a bath full of graham crackers.

Rotten Melon

We picked out a watermelon at the grocery store and put it in the cart where our 3 year old was. At some point during that grocery trip he ended up standing on the watermelon because it was fun and wobbly. I put a stop to that right away, but I think the damage was done, unbeknownst to me.

That evening I put the watermelon on the counter, and when I woke up the next day there was a huge puddle on the ground. The watermelon had been old enough/damaged enough that it cracked open and leaked rotten water melon juice all over our floor. It was a sticky, smelly, gross disaster.

The baby did it

I feel very confident that my 18-month old was involved in this.

More Toddler Tidbids

*Driving in the carpool lane traffic, passing lots of people*

David: Jamie, say "See ya, suckers!"
Jamie: See ya suckers! Suckers! Suckers. Sucker. Sucker, mommy. Get me a sucker, mommy!

Toddler Love

Me: Do you love me?
3 year old: Sure.

Cold Cup Measures

Today I learned that my 3 year old is strong enough to open the freezer all by himself. I learned this when I found my cup measures in the freezer. Good thing I like my cup measures extra cold!

Baby Talk

Don't teach your 15 month old the word "nipple" if you don't want her loudly saying "Nipples! Nipples! Mommy nipples!" and pulling back your shirt during church.

But she's so cute, though.

Back Wash

I let Rayne (14 months) drink out of my water bottle earlier today. Just now, when I went to take a drink, I felt something solid slide into my mouth. Immediately thinking the worst, that some bug crawled into my water, I spit it out all over onto the table.

Turns out it was a small chunk of apple that Rayne back washed into my water. Never again.

The aftermath of my spitting it out:

Nutella Kid

I leave him alone for ONE minute...

Uneven Cakes

When you put all three cake pans in the oven at the same time, and don't realize that the rims are overlapping, you get lopsided cakes.

Rice Pudding

Is it even homemade rice pudding if there's no burnt milk bits?

I've literally never made rice pudding without burning it. This time the recipe called for "instant rice" which I didn't even know existed, so we used normal rice. The milk is burnt, the rice is crunchy, but we're still eating it 😆

Poop Everywhere

Poop everywhere. If I had to describe what having a newborn is like, that’s what I’d say.

Rayne has a nasty habit of only pooping when we are out and about. Mostly when she's in her car seat. Always explosively. So I change her diaper in the car to avoid nasty public changing stations. Poop always gets everywhere. And I always forget to keep a change of clothes for her in the diaper bag, so she ends up wearing Jamie’s extra clothes (she's 3 months, he's 2T).

And today, a full 2 hours after changing her diaper, I found some dried poop on my arm. Whoops!

Unbuckled

One time, David and I were driving somewhere, and about 5 minutes into the drive Jamie stood up in his car seat and turned around! And that's when we found out that we had forgotten to buckle him in.

Goo Gone

When you and your husband both look for the Goo Gone, swear  it was JUST under the sink, then buy a giant bottle off amazon because it’s cheaper than the small bottle. And less than a week later I found the small bottle RIGHT WHERE WE WERE LOOKING. Omg.

We use Goo Gone about once a year, so now we have a lifetime supply.

The Goo Gone we couldn't find

The new BIG bottle of Goo Gone with the old smaller bottle still in it's hiding spot.

Chocolate Chips

We don't frequent Costco very often, because we have such a small family. Recently, however, we bought a huge bag of chocolate chips from Costco. I went to open them and this followed:

Me: What the heck? This giant bag of chocolate chips isn’t resealable!
David: What the heck?
Me: *cuts hole in bag*
1 minute later
*sees resealable zipper on other side of bag*

And now I have a rubber band holding closed the hole I cut in the bag.

Diaper Change

I changed this kid's diaper an HOUR ago, but I accidentally put the diaper on wrong so he wasn't even peeing on it. He was just peeing on his pants/shirt. *eye roll*

Mommy's Little Helper

Jamie likes to "help" us do anything and everything. Sometimes he takes it upon himself to throw things away for us.
